Welcome to the website of the Missouri State Ultimate team, an organization founded for the purpose of promoting Ultimate Frisbee on the Missouri State campus and for the pure love of the game. The primary intent of our club is to provide an outlet for students to play Ultimate at its most competitive level. Our team travels around Missouri and surrounding states, representing Missouri State University at local and national competitions. Our club is also here to educate everyone and anyone who has the slightest fascination with the sport of Ultimate and also to advance those players interested to a higher level of play. Everyone regardless of skill level or experience is invited to join us for some exciting ultimate.

How to Join

Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us at any of our practice times to play some Ultimate and have some fun. Playing time is essential however for improvement, so attendance at practices is mandatory in order to compete with the team at tournaments. Feel free to come out to any of our practices to see if Ultimate is the sport for you. Or contact us through the website if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you!

About Missouri State Ultimate

The sport of Ultimate has been a part of the Missouri State tradition for many years. Records show that the University, formerly Southwest Missouri State, attended College Nationals in 1985, 1986, and 1987. However, not much is known about the players during that time or for many years after. It wasn't until 1999 that we have record of the team again, calling themselves Team Option, and establishing a foundation for what the current team is built from. In 2002 the team picked up a bunch of recruits from the intramural team Fury, and decided to change the team name to The Frizzbears. The 2003-2004 season brought in some new recruits and saw the formation of Springfield's annual tournament, Frostbite. The team flourished for a few years and were able to attend Regionals in 2004 for Club seasson and in 2005 and 2006 for College. After establishing ourselves as a solid organization on campus and a key sport in the Unversity's tradition in 2008, the name Missouri State Ultimate was approved and so defines the team for hopefully many years to come.
